FORT EDWARD

Andrew “Andy” J. Esperti Jr. of Fort Edward, NY passed away unexpectedly with his family by his side at Glens Falls Hospital on Monday, August 14, 2017. He was born on July 20, 1932 in Fort Edward to the late Andrew J. Esperti Sr. and Angeline (Sofia) Esperti. He is survived by his very loving and devoted wife of 59 yrs, Louisa A. Gabriele, daughter of the late Antonio and Mary Gabriele, whom he wed at Sacred Heart Church in Albany, NY.

Andrew was a graduate of Fort Edward High School in 1951. He attended Siena College for 1 year before enlisting in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. During his time of service he participated in various military charities. Upon being honorably discharged from the military in 1956, he enrolled at Hudson Valley Community College from which he graduated with Associates Degree in Mechanical Technology in 1959. He was employed as an agent for the Metropolitan Insurance Company for several years. He then worked for Scott Paper Company in Fort Edward as a machine adjustor until he retired after 30 years. He continued to stay active and worked as a teacher’s assistant at Prospect School in Queensbury, NY and WSWHE BOCES Myers Education Center in Saratoga Springs, NY. He retired July 1st, 2017 at 85 years of age.

Andrew was very active throughout his years in many diverse activities including the Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, The American Red Cross, The Knights of Columbus Council 336, The American Legion, and The Italian American Club. He was also active politically for many years. He was a Delegate to the New York State Democratic Party and a chairman for the Washington County Democratic Committee. He was most passionate about his family and friends, his Italian heritage, gardening, and always loved to celebrate life with food and wine.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his grandparents, Antonio and Concetta( Bisognano) Sofia, his uncle Samuel A. Sofia, cousin Samuel C. Sofia, and grand-daughter Melanie Esperti.

In addition to his wife, Louisa A. Esperti, he is survived by his five children, daughter Linda and spouse Geoffrey Till of Falmouth, MA, son John Esperti and spouse Ruth Beck of Fort Ann, NY, son Michael Esperti of Holden, MA, son Andrew Esperti III of Round Lake, NY, daughter Angela and spouse Stephen Eggleston of Gansevoort, NY, and his younger brother David and spouse Mary Esperti of Gloversville, NY. Andrew is also survived by his nine grand-children; Alison and spouse Forster Peck, Sarah Esperti, Emily Esperti, Nicole Esperti, Michael “Joe” Esperti, Mark Esperti, Macario Esperti, Samuel Eggleston, and Gabriele Eggleston.

Family and friends may call from 2-5pm, Sunday, August 20, 2017 at the M. B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 82 Broadway, Fort Edward, NY 12828.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9am at St. Joseph’s Church, 164 Broadway, Fort Edward NY on Monday August 21st, 2017

Rite of Committal with military honors will take place at 12pm at the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd, Schuylerville, NY following the Funeral Mass.
