Obituary for Dorothy Porter
Hudson Falls
Dorothy Porter, 90, passed away on Monday, December 18, 2017 with her family by her side at Glens Falls Hospital.
Born on October 13, 1927 in Hudson Falls, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Wladyslawa (Stankowski) Urbonowicz.
Dorothy graduated from Argyle Central School on June 24, 1946. Dorothy worked for 21 years at BOCES in Hudson Falls as a Teacher’s Aid until her retirement in 2002.
On July 6, 1946 Dorothy married Charles Porter at St. Joseph Church in Fort Edward. They spent 39 years together until his passing on May 1, 1985. She was a communicant of the St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s church in Hudson Falls for many years.
Dorothy loved baking and especially gardening, she always had the most beautiful flower gardens.
In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy was predeceased by her daughter, Kathryn Porter Smith; her son-in-law, Charles Grant Smith; her infant sister, Catherine Urbonowicz; her brother, James Urbonowicz; her sisters, Edith Kennedy, Helen Tidd, Stella Salembier, Adella Konopka and Rachael Williamson.
Left to cherish her memory, include her children, Joseph Porter and his wife, Dianne, Ann Shortsleeves and her husband, Al, Virginia “Ginny” Campbell and her husband, Billy; her grandchildren, Sylvia, Michael, Stephen, Stephanie, Olivia, Greg, John, Michael, Jennifer, Jessica and Tabitha; special friend and care giver, Annette Hotmer; 19 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11am on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at the funeral home.
Burial will be conducted in the spring at St. Joseph Cemetery, Fort Edward.
