Obituary for Beatrice Fay "Honey Bea" Carr (Strong)

Beatrice F. “Honey Bea” (Strong) Carr, 76, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 25, 2019, surrounded by her loving family.

Born January 16, 1943 in Glens Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late George and Beatrice (Smith) Strong.

In 1958, Bea married Earl James “Jim” Carr, and together they raised their family until his passing in 1993.

Bea was a member of the St. Therese Chapel in Gansevoort. She also worked as a Dutchmaid consultant and retired from Scott Paper after 27 years of service.

Bea enjoyed cooking and gardening. She will be remembered for her selfless nature and how she was always caring for others. What she loved most was spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Bea was predeceased by her brothers, Fred Strong, Gordon Strong, and Forrest “Doc” Strong.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Rodney Carr Sr. (Patricia) of Gansevoort, Fay Strassburg (Chuck) of Gansevoort, James Carr (Karen) of Gansevoort, and Michael Carr of Fort Edward; her sisters, Adorna Spaulding of Gansevoort and Jane LaFountain of Wilton, her brothers, Thomas Strong of Fort Edward, and George Strong of Gansevoort, seven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends may call from 3-6pm on Friday, March 1, 2019 at the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 136 Main Street, South Glens Falls, NY 12803. A funeral service will follow the calling hours at the funeral home at 6pm with the Rev. Joel Cochran officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted on Saturday May 4, 2019 at 1pm at Gansevoort Cemetery.
