Deborah “Debbie” Annette (Champion) Hill, went into the arms of the Lord on Friday February 15, 2019 at Glens Falls Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on October 27, 1960, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of Mary O. (VanVranken) Champion and the late George H. Champion.
Debbie graduated from Glens Falls High School in 1978. She was a lifelong dedicated member of the First Baptist Church of Glens Falls where she was a Sunday School Teacher. Debbie was on the Board of Christian Education, the Music Committee, Pastoral Search Committee, Vacation Bible School and also the Worship Board.
She retired in 2016 after 24 years of service from Glens Falls City School District, where she worked at Big Cross Street School as a Teacher’s Aide. While at Big Cross she was a Building Representative for the Glens Falls School District Support Staff Association. Debbie was much loved by the children and her co-workers. She was a light to all who knew her.
Debbie was an active member of the PTA at Big Cross School and at Glens High School where she held the position of President. She was also the PTA Vice President at the Glens Falls Middle School.
She was also the recipient of the 1997 Founder’s Day Award.
Debbie was a well-traveled shopper who could shop until she dropped. She enjoyed traveling with her family to Disney World, Myrtle Beach, Disney Land, love of cruises and many trips to Atlantic City with her daughter, Shae.
In addition to her father, Debbie was predeceased by her sister-in-law, Laurie Champion.
Left to cherish her memory includes her mother, Mary O. Champion; her husband, Curtis Hill; her son, Rachaud Hill and his wife, Taylor; her grandson who lit up her life, Karter Hill; her daughter, Shae Hill and her companion, Oscar Juarez; her brother, Gregory Champion and his sons, Blair and Brett; and several cousins, aunts and uncles.
Friends and family may call from 4 to 6pm on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 136 Main Street, South Glens Falls, NY 12803.
A Celebration of Debbie’s Life will be conducted on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at 11am at the First Baptist Church of Glens Falls, 100 Maple Street, Glens Falls, NY 12801., with the Rev. Stephanie Schneider pastor, and with the Rev. Leonard A. Oates pastor of the Faith Tabernacle Church of Glens Falls officiating.
Burial will be conducted at 1pm on Friday, July 26, 2019, at Union Cemetery, Fort Edward.
