Argyle
Donald Durkee, 87, passed away on Monday, March 25, 2019, at Glens Falls Hospital.
Born on May 29, 1931, in Hudson Falls, he was the son of the late Alfred and Lillian (Nichols) Durkee.
Don graduated from Argyle Central High School in 1949. He was a lifelong member of the Argyle Methodist Church.
On May 21, 1955, Don married the love of his life Elaine Hughes in St. Joseph’s Church in Greenwich.
Don spent his entire life loving to work on his family farm with his father and eventually his son in Argyle, Durkee Farm. He also enjoyed playing sports in his earlier years and later watching them. Don loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Left to cherish his memory include his wife of 63 years, Elaine; his children, Martin Durkee, Marilyn Ellis and her husband, Tim; his grandchildren, Justin Durkee and his wife, Jammie, Michelle Austin and her husband, Scott and Beth Ellis; his great-grandchildren, Olivia, Jake, Andrew and Brooke; his sister-in-law, Anna Bristol; two nieces, one nephew and many cousins.
At Don’s request there will be no calling hours.
A Funeral Service will be conducted at 11am on Thursday, March 28, 2019 at M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 123 Main Street, Argyle, NY 12809.
Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
