Obituary for Harold Lester Lufkin

Glens Falls

Harold Lester Lufkin, 74, passed away on Monday, February 18, 2019, at Glens Falls Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Born on July 22, 1944, in Argyle, he was the son of the late Lester and Mary “Busy” (Williamson) Lufkin.
Harold graduated from Argyle High School in 1962. Following his graduation Harold enlisted into the United States Air Force, he served until 1967.

On August 16, 1969, Harold married Carol Reger at St. Mary’s Church in Glens Falls. They spent 20 years together until her passing in October of 1989.

He worked for Niagara Mohawk for 31 years as a gas mechanic. After his retirement from Niagara Mohawk he worked for the Chronicle for 16 years delivering papers.

Harold was known for his love for sports, especially baseball. He was very proud that he could answer any trivia question on the sport, he was especially proud of his accomplishment of visiting every major league stadium in the country. Harold was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame through Sports Travel and Tours in 2009 for his accomplishment. His even bigger accomplishment was his children and grandchildren, he would never miss a sports event or their activities that they participated in. Being a fan of sports, he will always be remembered and known for his support to the local high school sports teams.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Harold was predeceased by his brother, Carl Lufkin; his nephew, David Lufkin Jr.; his brother-in-law, Dan Komarony; his sister and brother-in-law, Jim and Gail Shine;
Left to cherish his memory include his children, Kristine Lufkin and her significant other, Keith Lanfear of Lake George, Michael Lufkin and his wife, Kathryn of Brandon, VT, Dr. Daniel Lufkin and his wife, Catey of Smithfield, VA; his adored grandchildren, Chelsea (Frank), Cassie, Mallory, Benjamin, Lily, Layton; his siblings, Ruby Komarony, David (Cecelia) Lufkin, and Jean Lufkin; his sister-in-law, Sandy Lufkin; his son-in-law, Larry Sipowicz; and several, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call from 3 to 6pm on Friday, February 22, 2019, at M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 136 Main Street, South Glens Falls, NY 12803.

Liturgy of the Word will be celebrated at 10am on Saturday, February 23, 2019, at St. Mary’s Church, 62 Warren Street, Glens Falls, NY 12801 with the Deacon David Powers, officiating.

Rite of Committal will be at 11am on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at St. Mary’s Cemetery, South Glens Falls.
