Jane (Rhoades) Anslinger, 96, had her last curtain call on Thursday, June 28, 2018.

Born July 22, 1921 in Columbus, OH, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Gertrude Marie (Abblichon) Rhoades.

Jane graduated from North High School, class of 1939 in Columbus, OH.

Jane was a Gae Foster girl and line captain at the Roxy Theater. She then became a Rockette at the Radio City Music Hall in NYC. She toured the USA, Canada, and Europe and performed with many notable actors.

As a Rockette, Jane toured with the USO during WWII in Europe, entertaining our service men and women. She was given the honorary rank of Captain. She met her husband Edward Howard Anslinger who was a Major in the US Army, and they were later married on August 10, 1946 at St. John’s Church in Lancaster, OH. They attended the War Crimes Trials in Nuremburg, Germany.

Jane and Eddie lived in Charlotte,NC for a time, eventually settling in Columbus,OH where they raised their three children. Jane was employed by Sears until her retirement, and continued to be active as a US Census taker, polling judge, docent, proctor, and teaching 55 Alive courses.

Jane was a member of the Worthy Matron of Triangle Chapter 592 Order of the Eastern Star, district 17, and also the Rockette Alumni Association.

Jane enjoyed traveling both in the US and abroad. She also liked to bird watch, read, play card games, shop, do word searches and watch game shows. She never tired of pulling pranks and joking around. She always had a story to share and was a lively conversationalist. She remained deeply religious throughout her life.

In addition to her parents, Jane was predeceased by her husband Edward Anslinger, her brother Larry Rhoades and his wife Dotty, her brothers Earl and Dean Rhoades, her sister Cleo Pensyl and her husband Bill, and her brothers-in-law Bob,Jack, and Richard Anslinger.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters; Marsha Ross of Columbus, OH, Saundra Aubin and her husband Philipe of Queensbury, NY, her son; Kent Anslinger and his wife Karen of Grove City, OH, her granddaughters; Jill Reichert and her husband Chris of Columbus, OH, Bianca Aubin and her husband Akram Abu Eata of Philadelphia, PA, her grandsons; Bryce Ross and his wife Katy of Granville, OH, Alex Aubin of Queensbury, NY, her great grandchildren; Samantha and Matthew Reichert, Sebastian and Estyn Ross, her sister-in-law Joann Nelson and her husband Rod of Sterling, VA, and many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, and her friends; Vilora Severance, Paul and Emma Kauffman, Joe and Gladys Renicker, Lillian Beswick, Dale Berkhouse, Carol Graney, and many more friends and family members too numerous to mention, and her lively cat Puddy Tat.
