Obituary for Loretta Stoddard (Engwer)

Argyle & So. Glens Falls

Loretta Stoddard, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2019 at her home in the presence of family.

Born in Fort Ann, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Elizabeth (Archambault) Engwer.

Loretta graduated from Fort Ann High School and Glens Falls Business School. On September 8, 1945, she married Glen Stoddard. The couple enjoyed 61 years of marriage until Glen’s passing in 2006. She worked for 2 area physicians and retired with over 30 years of service with Dr. Harold J. Luria in Glens Falls. Loretta enjoyed traveling with her daughter Kathie and enjoyed many wonderful trips with her favorites being 3 trips to Rome, Italy. She also enjoyed attending Fortsville Methodist Church.

Besides her parents and husband, Loretta was also predeceased by her grandson, Brian her granddaughter, Krista and her brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Eunice Engwer.

Left to cherish her memory include her children, Keith Stoddard (Nancy) of Pulaski, Kathie Stoddard (Paul) of Stillwater, Kim “Wheels” Stoddard “who was always in every sense of the word, my caretaker” of So. Glens Falls; her granddaughter, Grace; Grandson, Marcus and nieces and nephew who were very special to their “Aunt Ret”.

At Loretta’s request there will be no calling hours.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00pm on Friday, March 1, 2019 at the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 123 Main Street, Argyle with Rev. Burial will be conducted on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at 1pm at Prospect Hill Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Moreau Emergency Squad, 15893 State Rt. 9, Fort Edward, NY 12828-9433 or to the Fortsville Methodist Church, 402 Fortsville Road, Gansevoort, NY 12831

The family would like to especially thank Saratoga County Sherriff’s Sgt. Markwardt, Deputy Kyne, Dr. William Parker and staff at the Fort Edward/Kingsbury branch of Hudson Headwaters and the Moreau Emergency Squad, for their compassion and care.
