Obituary for Louis Francis Bigelow Jr.

Louis F. Bigelow Jr., 77, passed away Sunday April 7, 2019 at the Pines Nursing Home two weeks before his 78th birthday.
Born April 19, 1941 in Pittsfield, MA, he was the son of the late Louis Sr. and Mary (Bilotta) Bigelow.
He served his community from 1969-1977 as a Framingham Police Officer in Framingham, MA. Prior to becoming a police officer, Lou was proud to serve his country in the Vietnam War. He served in the 92nd Airborne Division.
Lou married Donna Rae Gelder on May 23, 2015 at the Boy Scout Camp Wakpominee Chapel by Dr. Clayton Burgess. They would have been married four years on May 23.
He enjoyed cooking, gardening, camping, boating, woodworking, remodeling, traveling the United States by car and especially fishing in Tennessee
Lou was a member of the Harrisena Community Church where he played Adam in “The Beginning of Sin” and Johnny Appleseed for the Apple Festival. He was a trophy member of the North American Fishing Club, North American Hunting Club, Glens Falls Community Theatre and GFCT senior seminar.
He was an usher at “What a Wonderful World”, set designer and construction for “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change”, set construction for “Brighton Beach Memoirs”, and part of the cast for “Seniors go Nashville”.
Lou drove a golf cart for the yearly cemetery tours by Glens Falls Community Theatre and the Chapman Historical Museum. Lou also was a member of the Glens Falls Community Theatre By-Laws Committee.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Donna Gelder.

A celebration of Lou’s life will be held on Thursday April 11, 2019 at 2p.m. at the Harrisena Community Church 1616 Ridge Road Queensbury, NY 12804 with Dr. Natalie C. Wimberly officiating, Rev. Dr. Clayton Burgess and Rev. Patti Girard attending ministers.
Burial will be at Lakeview cemetery 363 Elm St. Penn Yan, NY 14527 on Monday April 15, 2019 at 11 am.
