Obituary for Marjory Sidusky (Baker)
HUDSON FALLS — Marjory (Baker) Sidusky, 95, formerly of Maple Street, passed away Friday, July 6, 2018 at Fort Hudson Nursing Home in Fort Edward.
Born on February 7, 1923 in East Dorset, VT, she was the daughter of Fred and Bertha (Hulett) Baker.
On February 28, 1943, she married the love of her life, Arthur K. Sidusky at The All Saints Roman Catholic Church in Granville NY. They spent 45 years together before Arthur’s passing on June 13, 1988.
Marjory, along with her husband Arthur owned different businesses over the years. They began a Texaco Service Station and Willys Jeep Dealership combination in West Pawlet Vt. In later years, Marjory started a small store attached to the Texaco Station, selling milk, bread and produce from local farmers.
In the mid 1950’s, Marjory and Arthur moved to Hudson Falls NY and opened Sidusky’s Grocery. Along with the store that Marjory ran daily, they also owned a garage and serviced cars and trucks for local people. There they had one of the largest fruit / vegetable stands in this area. They would proudly sell in season fruits and vegetables, plants, flowers and hanging baskets.
In the early 1980’s, Marjory closed the store, but decided to continue to work. Her compassion and caring side attracted her to a position at the Glens Falls Hospital, where she was a Patient Companion, also known as a sitter for many years.
Marjory enjoyed gardening and having many flowers in her home and yard. She enjoyed going for rides with her brother Mike. One of her favorite things to do was to go to garage sales. She loved finding a good deal. She was always cooking, baking or canning something. She spoke often of going to New Hampshire with her family to pick blueberries. They would then return home to package them and sell them, or can them for later use.
Marjory took great pride in the Easter holiday. She hosted a large dinner every Easter Sunday where the entire family would come and spend the day. There would be an elaborate Easter egg hunt for all of the grand children, and then a wonderful home cooked meal for everyone to enjoy.
In recent years, while living at Fort Hudson in Fort Edward NY, Marjory enjoyed Bingo, arts and crafts, listening to the music guests and Summer cookouts. She looked forward to getting manicures and going on outings to different areas around the region.
While family was the most important thing to Marjory, she had two special pets as well. Her dog Chico and her cat Tori, who reside with Jim and Judy Sidusky. Chico loved going to visit her while she lived in the nursing home, and was liked by all of the residents.
Including her husband, Marjory was predeceased by her brothers and sisters Bernie, Bobby, Clarence, Francis, Gordie, Mike, Alice and Dot. Her son John A Sidusky passed away in 2017.
Left to cherish her wonderful legacy are her children, James Sidusky and his wife Judy of Queensbury, Michael Sidusky and his wife Kathy of Fort Edward. Grandchildren Kimberly Butler and her husband Bill, Scott Sidusky, Jason Sidusky, Joe Sidusky and his wife Amanda, Rebecca Sidusky and her partner Dale Barrett II and Nathaniel Sidusky. Great grandchildren Samantha Butler, Aaron Butler, Payton Sidusky, Dale Barrett III and Philip Sidusky. She is also survived by her sister Joyce Virgil, daughter in law Betsey Sidusky and many nieces and nephews who meant the world to her.
The family would like to thank the D wing staff at Fort Hudson for everything they have done to make her seven and a half years there pleasant and home like. The care she received was heartwarming. She made many friends there including residents and employees. We thank you.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, July 14, at M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 82 Broadway, Fort Edward.
A funeral service will follow the calling hours at 12 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be conducted following the funeral service at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Granville.
