Obituary for Michael "Mickey" O'Sick
HUDSON FALLS
Michael “Mickey” O’Sick, 73, passed away on Sunday, February 3, 2019 at the Glens Falls Hospital, surrounded by his loving wife and family after a long illness.
Born June 12, 1945, in Binghamton, NY, he was the son of the late Louis O’Sick and Marjorie (VanLoan) O’Sick Frawley.
Mick graduated from Fort Edward High School in 1964. In his senior year, he was a stellar track star, running the 880 yards and relay sprints. He was also a mentor to the younger athletes.
Mick was employed by the NYS Department of Corrections for many years, working at Great Meadow, and eventually retiring from Mount McGregor.
Mick loved life and people. He gave everyone nicknames and had a contagious laugh that drew you to him. In his younger years, he enjoyed deer hunting, riding motorcycles and snowmobiles. As he grew older he became an avid golfer. He especially loved playing with his friends, wife and his boys (the Big Os). He loved going to his winter home in Naples where he developed great friendships. He will be greatly missed by his wife, children, family, and many friends. Soar high, you have earned it my love.
In addition to his parents, Mick is predeceased by his stepfather George Frawley, his aunts; Gloria O’Sick, Grace Clark, and Bea VanZandt, and his nephew Cameron Tyler.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Susan (Cramer) O’Sick, his sons, Mark O'Sick of South Glens Falls, and Michael O'Sick (Jan) and their family of Washington State, his sisters; Barbara Tyler (Roy), Marge Durkee (Bill), and Victoria Plude (Tom), his brothers; Steven O’Sick (Bobbi), and Peter O’Sick, his sisters-in-law; Phyllis Rea (Ron) and Carol Ingalls, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may call from 4-6pm on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 82 Broadway, Fort Edward, NY 12828.
A Memorial Service will be conducted at 6pm at the funeral home following the calling hours.
Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Memorial donations in Mick’s name can be made to a charity of one’s choice.
Mick’s family would like to thank the nurses on T4 and T2 for their care and compassion as well as the staff in the outpatient department for all their help. A special thank you to Mike “Dog” Pickett for his loyal friendship and help throughout Mick’s illness, and much love to Phyllis for always being Sue’s rock.
